Gaza death toll reaches 2,450, says health ministry
At least 2,450 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli shelling and air strikes in Gaza, says the Palestinian health ministry in the Strip.
The number of people injured has reached 9,200, it added.
“An estimated one million Gazans have been displaced in the first seven days of conflict with Israel, according to the United Nations agency supporting Palestinian refugees, as aid groups said the situation in the besieged enclave is âcatastrophicâ.
“Israel has deployed tanks and weapons on the border fence with Gaza as the military build-up continues amid relentless bombardment.
“At least 2,329 Palestinians, including 724 children, have been killed in Israeli air raids. The number of Israelis killed in Hamasâs military operation stands at 1,300, including 286 soldiers.

Pro-Palestinian marches draw thousands globally
Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered in the US capital on Saturday, marching past the White House to chants of âFree Palestineâ as the death toll continued to climb in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
In the United Kingdom, rallies took place in Manchester in northern England, Edinburgh and Glasgow in Scotland, and London, amid police warnings that anyone showing support for the armed group Hamas could face arrest. Protesters marching through the heart of the British capital were shadowed by a heavy police presence of more than 1,000 officers.

Israelâs war with Hamas in Gaza will have budgetary implications but they are manageable since the country entered the conflict with a very solid fiscal position, Bank of Israel Governor Amir Yaron says.
In a speech to a G30 panel, Yaron says that Israelâs economy was âstrong and stableâ and has in the past recovered from difficult periods.
Where do China, Russia and India stand on the Gaza war?
The European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom have shown strong support for Israel.

Israel not interested in war with Hezbollah: Defence minister
Israelâs defence minister has said that Israel was not interested in waging war on its northern front and that his country will keep the situation along the border as it is.
âWe have no interest in a war in the north. We donât want to escalate the situation,â Defence Minister Yoav Gallant told reporters.
âIf Hezbollah chooses the path of war, it will pay a very heavy price. Very heavy. But if it restrains itself, we will respect that and keep the situation as it is,â Gallant said, noting that there had been exchanges of fire across the border.
