Somalia and Uganda have agreed to cooperate in strengthening security

The Presidents of Somalia and Uganda Dr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Mr; Yoweri Museveni held a meeting in Kampala and discussed the relationship between the two countries, issues in the Horn of Africa region and the strengthening of the historic cooperation between Somalia and Uganda.

The report of the meeting between the two Presidents describes issues such as strengthening cooperation in the fields of security, trade, and development, with the agreement to increase trade and investment cooperation.

Support for the Somali Security Forces and the new AUSSOM operation.

Welcoming Somalia’s new membership in the East African Community (EAC) and Somalia’s representation in the United Nations Security Council in 2025-2026.

The Ugandan government has welcomed the lifting of the arms embargo on Somalia, which is an important step that will allow Somalia to fully assume responsibility for national security.
