Israel-Hamas live: Thousands flee to southern Gaza after Israeli warning

• Thousands have fled to southern Gaza after the Israeli army warned Palestinians to move out of the north of the besieged enclave before the expected ground offensive, Al Jazeera correspondents report.
• UN says Israel gave residents 24 hours to move, calling such relocation “impossible”. Hamas calls Israeli warning “fake propaganda”, and tells residents to ignore order.
• At least nine Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in various locations across the occupied West Bank, Palestinian health officials say.
• At least 1,799 Palestinians were killed and 6,388 wounded in Israeli air attacks on Gaza. The number of people killed in Israel has reached 1,300, with more than 3,000 wounded.

Amnesty investigating use of white phosphorus in Gaza

Amnesty International’s Crisis Evidence Lab has verified that “Israeli military units striking Gaza are equipped with white phosphorus artillery rounds”.

The rights group said it was “investigating壯陽藥 what appears to be the use of white phosphorus in Gaza, including in a strike near a hotel on the beach in Gaza City”.

Earlier, Human Rights Watch said Israel has used white phosphorus in its continuing military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, putting civilians at serious risk.

Number of Palestinians killed in occupied West Bank rises to 11

The number of Palestinians killed in the occupied West Bank by Israeli fire now stands at 11, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Palestinian PM accuses Israel of committing ‘genocide’

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Shtayyeh has accused Israel of committing “genocide” after mass air attacks levelled apartment buildings in Gaza.

“Our people in Gaza are going through genocide, and Gaza has become a disaster area,” Shtayyeh told a news conference in Ramallah.

So far, nearly 1,800 Palestinians have been killed and more than 6,000 wounded in Israeli air attacks in Gaza. In Israel, the death toll in Hamas’s attack stands at more than 1,300, with some 3,400 others wounded

Israel denies white phosphorus allegation

The Israeli army has rejected accusations it made use of white phosphorus in its military operations over the past week, calling them “unequivocally false”.

The denial came after Human Rights Watch on Thursday accused Israel of using white phosphorus in Gaza and Lebanon, putting civilians at serious risk, following an analysis of video of the conflict.

Gallant repeats call for Palestinians in Gaza City to head south

At the press briefing in Tel Aviv, the Israeli defence minister again called on Palestinians in Gaza City to evacuate and head to southern Gaza.

“Those who want to save their lives, please go south. We are going to destroy Hamas infrastructures, Hamas headquarters, Hamas military establishments and take this phenomena out of Gaza and out of the Earth,” he said

‘US security assistance to Israel will flow in at the speed of war’

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin says “the US will make sure that Israel has what it needs to defend itself”, as Israeli forces prepare for new assaults on Gaza.

“We will stand with Israel even as we stand with Ukraine… US security assistance to Israel will flow in at the speed of war,” Austin said.

He said munitions, air defence capabilities and other equipment and resources was coming into Israel.

He is speaking at a press briefing in Tel Aviv with Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

China’s Wang says cause of war is ‘injustice’ against Palestinians

We brought you earlier some comments by the the EU’s foreign policy chief Josep Borrell who is in Beijing for talks with Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister.

After the meeting, Wang said the cause of the Israel-Hamas conflict was “historical injustice” against Palestinians.

“The root of this problem lies in the long delay in the realisation of Palestine’s aspiration to establish an independent state, and in the fact that the historical injustice suffered by the Palestinian people has not been corrected,” he told reporters.

ICRC says humanitarian groups unable to help amid Gaza displacement

The International Committee of the Red Cross says aid groups will not be able to provide assistance to the 1.1 million people in Gaza whom Israel has given 24 hours to flee to the south of the enclave.

“With a military siege in place, humanitarian organizations including the ICRC will not be able to assist such a massive displacement of people in Gaza,” it said in a statement.

“The needs are staggering, and humanitarian organizations must be able to increase aid operations.”
