26-April-2024″ The United States has accused the Ethiopian army of human rights violations.
A report on the situation in Ethiopia issued by the United States Department of State detailed violations against civilians by the Ethiopian military in 2023.
The report shows that the Ethiopian army has been involved in brutal acts including murder, rape, robbery, illegal arrest and suppression of politicians and journalists.
It is also stated in this report that the civilians were forced to flee from their areas after being subjected to racial discrimination.
The Ethiopian security forces participated in the killing of 23 civilians, who were killed in a single place in the Oromada region, in early January last year.
There are journalists and politicians opposed to Abiy Ahmed’s policies who have been detained in secret facilities, without trial and denied access to their families.
The United Nations has confirmed that the federal government of Ethiopia has failed to deal with the abuses against innocent people.
The news of the ongoing war in Ethiopia and the humanitarian situation has led the international community and several countries including the United States, the UK, Japan and France to call for an urgent dialogue to reduce the conflict, so that to protect civilians.
